School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), Indian Institute of Technology (IITK) Kharagpur issued admission notification for its innovative program, Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) for the year 2011-12. The duration of the program is 3 years and is aimed at MBBS graduates to impart engineering related skills to them. The programme is intended to train medical professionals to inculcate research orientation in the areas of Medical Imaging, Biomedical Instrumentation, Biomaterials and Implants, Biophysics, Telemedicine, Medical Statistics, Molecular Imaging and Image Analysis, Early Detection of Cancer, Immuno-technology, Biomedical Simulation, Wound research, Recombinant DNA Technology etc. Following are details of eligibility and seletion process:
Eligibility: Applicants should have MBBS Degree with minimum of 55 percent marks in aggregate. They must have studied mathematics at +2 level. The selection of students for the program is based on the performance of the candidates in an objective type of written test. The duration fo the test is 2 hours. The candidate has to answer 120 questions out of which 75 questions are assigned to the MBBS syllabus. The remaining questions will cover +2 syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Total marks are 120 and each wrong answer will be given negative 0.25 marks. Those short listed in written test will be called for counseling at IIT Kharagpur.
