The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test is taken by all the students who are interested in furthering their academic careers. The competitiveness of college admissions dictates a good IELTS score as a minimum pre – requisite to even be considered by some colleges. The IELTS test requires that the student understand the underlying concepts of the English language. The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), the British Council and IDP Education Australia jointly manage the IELTS at international level. Most of the universities in United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand accept an IELTS overall score of 6.0 or 6.5 for entering various academic programmes offerd by them.
The IELTS test covers 4 important content areas :
1. Writing: 60 minutes
2. Reading: 60 minutes
3. Listening: 28-30 minutes
4. Speaking: 12-14minutes
The maximum duration of time allotted to take the IELTS is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Key tips to succeed in IELTS:
1. Improve writing skills.
2. Review reading passages that frequently asked in the IELTS test.
3. Improve vocabulary.
4. Be introduced and gradually more familiar with the format of the IELTS test pattern.
5. Practice intensely for the listening and speaking tests of the IELTS.
Candidates are requested to select one answer per question. It is more important not to leave any question blank. Try to attempt all questions.
