The Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India has introduced a new scholarship programme for women. This scholarship is for training in the area of Intellectual Property Rights. Under this scheme, Postgraduates and Ph.D. degree holders (women candidates only) will be given a stipend of Rs.10,000 and Rs.15,000 per month respectively. Candidates will have to qualify in an entrance test and an interview to be selected for this scholarship. Selected candidates should go through an orientation programme for one month.
Apart from this, there are other scholarships for Women candidates to encourage them to pursue research in advanced areas of Sciences and Engineering. The selected candidates under this scheme will get upto Rs. 20,000/- per month as Research Scholarship. Following are categories in which scholarships will be awarded:
1. Scholarship for Research in Basic OR Applied Science (WOS-A)
2. Scholarship for Research in S&T – based Societal Programs (WOS-B)
3. Internship for the Self-Employment (WOS-C)
Women candidates with M.Sc. or Ph.D. in physical / chemical / life sciences or B.Tech./ B.E. or M.Tech, MBBS, MS, MD, M.V.Sc, and M.Pharm. Candidates are also eligible to apply for all these scholarships. Notifications for these scholarships will be announced in leading dailies and also displayed on DST website dst.gov.in .
