IIT Bombay-Monash Academy Scholarships for Ph.D. 2011

The IITB – Monash Research Academy have announced notification for June 2011 intake of candidates for admission to Ph.D. Program. IITB- Monash Research Academy is an innovation of two premier institutes and a partnership between IIT Bombay and Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. The Research Academy conducts high end research in various applied fields. The Academy invites applications from highly meritorious students with outstanding academic record to work in the areas of applied research in different disciplines with inter disciplinary approach.

Apart from generous scholarships, selected candidates shall receive so many facilities under this scholarship programme. They can have access to world-class research facilities. Biggest advantage of this scholarship program is Ph.D. Degree from IITB and Monash Academy. You shall gain international research experience as part of the work is to be carried out in Australia. There will be supervisors from Professors at IITB and Monash Academy. The scholarship also offers special fellowship to visit Monash University for a period of six months.

The IITB Monash Academy issues notification for June and December Intakes every year. The important areas of research are Advanced computational engineering, simulation and manufacture, Infrastructure engineering, Clean energy, Water, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology and Stem Cell Research.

ISAT for B.Tech Admissions at IIST Thiruvananthapuram

Indian Institute Of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, a premier training and research center for Space related courses offering three highly specialized courses in Space Sciences and Engineering at B.Tech level. Popular as IIST, the institute conducts ISAT, an admission test for undergraduate courses. Candidates should secure minimum 70 percent marks in their 10th / SSC and +2 examinations to apply for ISAT. They should have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at +2 levels. Relaxations in percentages apply as per rules. Following are details of courses:

1. B Tech- Avionics (58 seats): This is mostly related to topics in Electronics and Communications Engineering and gives exposure to Advanced Electronics areas used in Aerospace Systems such as digital and communication, control systems and computer systems. Candidates with B. Tech degree in Avionics can specialize in DSP, RF and Communication, Antenna, Power Electronics, Micro Electronics, Control System etc. at the M.Tech or M.S. level.

2. B Tech- Physical Science (39 seats): This program will emphasize on foundations in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and their applications in space science and technology. After completing this Degree, one can specialize in Remote Sensing and GIS, Solid Earth Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Atmospheric and Ocean sciences, and Chemical Systems.

3. B Tech- Aerospace Engineering (59 seats): This program is designed on par with the standards at IITs and reputed institutes in abroad. It is more or less oriented towards Mechanical Engineering and Design. You can specialize in Structure and Design, Aerodynamics, Thermal and Propulsion, Flight Mechanics, and Manufacturing Science at Post Graduation level.

Candidates will be selected based on the rank obtained in ISAT conducted every year. ISAT 2011-12 Notification has been released recently. Exam will be conducted during April.
