Class II – PUC Biology Paper Leak in Karnataka – No Re-exam

Bangalore, March 2013: The Government of Karnataka has clarified that the state government has no plans to conduct re-exams for Class – II (PUC) biology subject. The Primary and Secondary Education minister Visvesvara Hegde Kageri informed that the Government has no proposal to conduct re-examination.

He also said that the investigation is under progress on the Tumkur issue (rumours of paper leak) and the police have already arrested as part of the investigation.

The State Government of Karnataka has also issued a circular to Block Education Officers (BEOs) to set up two flying squads in their respective taluks to supervise the examinations. The squads will consists of officials from education and police department. A videographer also follow them to keep vigil on the nearby xerox centers, cyber cafes and tuition centers.

The state government is also contemplating to enforce Goonda Act against those involved in paper leaks. The Government has also set up a helpline to receive suggestions from the students and parents.

Shivaji University postpones BA and B.Com examinations

March 2013: Shivaji University, Kolhapur has decided to postpone all the ongoing examinations indefinitely. The decision has been taken on the backdrop of ongoing agitation by teachers. The teachers in the state have given call to boycott classes till the Government conceeds their demands.

The teachers are demanding the payment of areas of Sixth Pay Commission. About 4000 teachers from Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara have participated in the call for boycott of examinations called by Maharashtra State Federation of University and College Teachers Organization.

The agitation is going on from February 2013. The annual examinations of B.A. and B.Com scheduled to be held from 22nd March 2013 have been postponed indefinitely due to this agitation. The new time table of these examinations will be announced by the authorities in due course of time.
