GATE 2019 – Changes, Previous Papers, Application and Online Exam Dates

GATE 2019 Notification is out. Here are the details: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is the organising institute for GATE 2019. The exam will be in online mode on 2019 February 2, 3, 9 and 10 for all the 24 papers. This year, a new paper Statistics has been added by IITs.

About the exam:

GATE 2019 is a national level entrance exam / screning test for admission into post graduate courses like M.E. / M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes at all IITs, IISc, NITs, GFTIs and other Universities in India.

Only one paper:

Candidates applying for GATE 2019 will have to select only one paper for examination. The GATE 2019 score card will be valid for a period of 3 years for M.Tech / ME admissions. Number of PSU companies also using GATE scores for the recruitment of graduate engineers and management trainees.

Marks of Examination: 100

Validity of Score / Grade: GATE score is valid for 3 years. About 9 lakhs candidates will be appearing for GATE exam across the country. GATE 2019 official website is gate.iitm.ac.in

IIT JEE Advanced Extended Merit List with Reduced Cut Offs – 2018

JEE Cut Offs for 2018-19 has been cut down frastically as the qualified candidates are not available in several categories. General category cut off has been reduced to 25 from 35. With this, candidates those eligible for counseling has gone up to 31988. The Government of India has taken this key decision considering non-availability of qualified candidates in various categories. The admission counseling through JOSAA is scheduled from 15th June 2018.

The IIT Kanpur, which has conducted IIT JEE Advanced has released extended merit list (EML). The list is available on JOSSA website josaa.nic.in . With this list, the qualified candidates in JEE Advanced has gone up to 31988. As per the results announced on 10th June, only 18138 candidates only qualified for JEE Advanced counseling.

Following are the latest qualifying marks for various categories of students:

General: 90 marks
OBC category: 81 marks
SC category: 45 marks
ST Category: 45 marks
PwD category (OC / OBC / SC/ ST): 45 marks
Preparatory category: 23 marks

Eligible candidates for counseling after reduced cut off marks:

General category: 17597 candidates
General PwD: 159 candidates
OBC – NCL: 6900 candidates
OBC – PwD category: 64 candidates
SC category: 5471 candidates
SC PwD category: 9 candidates
ST category: 1786 candidates
ST PwD category: 2 candidates
