RIMC- Rashtriya Indian Military College 8th Class Admissions 2013

Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun announced notification for admission into Class VIII / 8th Class in the RIMC Dehradun for the academic year starting from the Term January 2013. The Entrance Examination will be held on 1st June 2012 and 2nd June 2012. The State Public Service Commission or concerned authorities will conduct an Entrance Examination for the purpose of short listing the candidates. Only 25 Cadets are admitted every six month in RIMC, Dehradun. The APPSC has released notification for selection of candidates from Andhra Pradesh. Other states also will release separate notifications and candidates need to apply in response to those notifications.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants should not be less than 11 years of age or they must not have attained the age of 13 years on 01 (January) and 01 (July) of the term they are going to join. Admissions will be held for Class VIII only. The applicants must be studying in Class VII or above in a recognized school at the time of joining. Candidates have to submit applications to respective State governments in response to the notifications issued by them.

Selection will be based on merit in All India Entrance Examination held twice a year. Generally each state will have one seat. But large states such as UP, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu West Bengal and Maharashtra which have up to 2 vacancies. The entrance exam will consist of a written examination with question papers in following subjects:

1. English : 125 marks
2. Mathematics : 200 marks
3. General Knowledge: 75 marks

Those qualified in written test will be called for Viva – Voce test. It will be for 50 marks. Those cleared this also will be sent for medical examinations before finalising the selection of the candidates. The colleges is best suited for those interested in joining Defence forces of India after completion of the education.

Application procedure: The prospectus and application for the RIMC Entrance Examination is available on payment of Rs. 350 in the form of DD drawn in favour of Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun. Application forms along with previous question papers of Entrance Examination can also be obtained from Additional Secretary, APPSC, Hyderabad. IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad 2011-Test Structure

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi (World’s largest open university) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), South Asia Office in New Delhi is organizing the Science Olympiad 2011. The program is meant for the South Asian Countries only. The main purpose of the Science Olympiad is to search for the students interested in sciences and motivate them to take up science as a career. The students from all SAARC countries can avail this opportunity.

This Olympiad will be conducted on a two-tier level. In the first level, an objective test will be conducted for all the candidates. Those short listed from objective test will be called for next phase. Students can participate in this Olympiad and prove their talent and capability in science subjects. Candidates will get certification from internationally renowned institutions.

Structure of the IGNOU – UNESCO Science Olympiad Test: This Science Olympiad will consist of two phases:

1. First Tier test: All the participants will be called for this tier test. They can choose the center of their choice to participate in the program. The Objective will consist of questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Duration of the test is 3 hours. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

2. Second Tier Test: About top 40 participants from the Tier 1 will be short listed for this tier. This Tier of the test will be conducted at Delhi. Only 40 meritorious students from all SAARC countries will be selected for this test. The test will be conducted to test the understanding and problem solving capability of the candidates. Each question may take about 5-10 minutes. Equal weightage will be given for Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Duration for this test is 3 hours. Test will be held at IGNOU, New Delhi.
