CBSE 10th and 12th Exams Cancelled? See Latest Updates

There was widespread news about cancellation of CBSE 10th and 12th exams after the conclusion of state education ministers’ meeting with MHRD minister. Some news channels have telecasted the news confirming the cancellation of pending exams of class 10 of CBSE board. They also mentioned that the 12th exams will remain intact and will be held soon. But this news not confirmed by CBSE Board or Central HRD ministry. Hence it can be considered as a rumour and false news.

Lakhs of students waiting for the news:

This nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus is not just a matter of a student or two but a matter of lakhs of students and their lives. Everyone is suffering from the consequences of this lockdown which includes students, parents, elderly, youngsters, etc. Students have been tensed for a long time from the beginning of the lockdown. This has led to the educational meeting in which Union Human Resource Development Minister has given an advice to the officials that it would be better to promote The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 and 12 students to the next grade.

Cancel pending exams of 10th and 12th Classes: Delhi Education Minister

The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has said that it is better not to conduct the pending examinations and the final grade will be provided on the basis of the internal examinations conducted by the affiliated schools. He said that it is not possible to conduct the pending examinations because of the possibility of the further extension of the lockdown. Earlier, the CBSE examinations were postponed because of the severe outbreak of the coronavirus. Later, as per a notice released in April, the Board has decided to conduct examinations only for important subjects i.e. only 29 out of 83 subjects.

30 per cent syllabus reduction:

Mr. Manish Sisodia said that the syllabus for the entrance examinations such as JEE and NEET which have been delayed due to lockdown should be reduced upto 30%. Apart from these examinations, all the schools and other higher educational institutions as well must reduce their syllabus for the next academic year.

Evaluation to begin soon:

The Human Resource Department Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal has advised all the educational boards to begin the evaluation of the competed examination to minimise the delay of declaration of results after the Government has uplifted the lockdown. Decisions have to be taken after proper analysis and keeping in view the future of 33 crore students so that it doesn’t affect any of them.

CBSE 10th and 12th Exams Updates on New Schedule

The nationwide lockdown due to the pandemic coronavirus is playing havoc on student’s lives. It has affected all the educational institutions in the country. Lakhs of students are waiting for their 10th and 12th Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled exams to continue again. While all the students across the country are waiting for the final announcements of the examination schedule, the Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a statement saying that it will conduct exams for only the main subjects at present.

Exams for 29 main subjects:

In a statement released by the Human Resource Department Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, he said that the examinations will be held only for important subjects for classes 10 and 12. He said that exams will be conducted only for 29 main subjects out of 83 as fast as possible. The exams for the remaining subjects will be held later.

Examinations to be Conducted:

The remaining subjects of class 10 for which examinations are to be held are as follows:

• Hindi Course A
• Hindi Course B
• English Communication
• English language and Literature
• Science
• Social Science

The remaining subjects of class 12 for which examinations are to be held are as follows:

• Business Studies
• Geography
• Hindi (Elective)
• Hindi (Core)
• Home Science
• Sociology
• Computer Science
• Information Practice
• Information Technology
• Biotechnology

Schedule of the Examinations:

The education minister said that the schedule cannot be decided before the lockdown till the 3rd of May, 2020 ends. It has to be done after proper analysis of the present situation so that the virus won’t spread for the cause of examinations. The schedule will be announced before ten days of the final date of commencement of the examinations.

Promotion of Students Studying in Grades 9 and 11:

Central Board of Secondary Education has advised all the CBSE schools to promote the students studying in classes 9 and 11 to the next grade. The assessment will be based on the internal examinations and non-academic components conducted in the affiliated schools so far.
