Masters Degree holders may get jobs in R and D organizations working in the area of molecular biology. The present scenario in both agriculture and health in the area of Genetic Engineering is encouraging since several GM (Genetically modified) crops and GMF (Genetically modified food) are coming to the markets. Subject related Genetically altered insects to reduce the disease burden in health area is also an upcoming one. In summary Genetic Engineering has lot of advantage in future.

M.Tech Bio-informatics without GATE:

Following are some institutes offering Bio Informatics courses: 1. Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, New Delhi This institute takes up students for M.Tech Bio-informatics through GATE but they also have one sponsored category. 2. IIIT Allahabad and IIIT Hyderabad, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, India are having Bio-informatics course. Other than GATE score they have their own exams. You can try for that. Presently the job situation is not so rosy but if you are technically sound then definitely there are opportunities. But the number of positions is always limited. Universities providing fellowship for MS bio-informatics is rare.

Coming to study options in abroad, Max Planck Institute Germany is also offering MS programs in Structural Biology which is the integral part of Bio-informatics. You can find more details about the institute from www.mpg.de
