IIT Hyderabad Ph.D. Admissions 2011-12 | Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical and Civil Engineering

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad issued notification for admission to Ph.D. Programs for 2011-12 in the disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering and Civil Engineering. IIT Hyderabad is a recently joined institute in the league of brand IITs. Following are details of PH.D. admission in the above subjects and theri eligibility and application procedure:

1. Chemistry: Specialisations are 1. Electrochemistry 2. Catalysis & Nanomaterials 3. Organic Synthesis and 4. Organometallic Chemistry. Details of eligibility available on chemistry.iith.ac.in/ . Last Date for receipt of filled in applications is 15th April 2011.

2. Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering: Research areas are Molecular Biology of Prion and amyloid associated diseases, Protein mis-folding, and Yeast genetics and Biomedical Imaging and Bio-photonics. 3. Physics: Research areas are High Energy Physics, Condensed Matter Physics (Theory) and Computational Material Science, Condensed Matter Physics (Experimental), Micro-Elecromechanical Systems (MEMS), and Statistical Mechanics/ Biological Physics. CCMB Hyderabad Ph.D. Notification 2011-12

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad is inviting applications for admission to Ph.D. Program in various specialisations of modern biology for the year 2011-12. CCMB is a premier research organisation in the country for biological sciences. The institute has highly qualified and research oriented scientists and state of the art infrastructure. There will be so much competition among JRF holders for admission to CCMB for research. Broad areas of research are Cell Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Nanobiology, Plant Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, Biology of Macromolecules, Biology of Infection, Protein Structure and Function, Bioinformatics,Theoretical and Computational Biology and Epigenetics and Chromatin Biology. Following are details of eligibility and application procedure for Ph.D admissions for 2011-12:

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant should have M.Sc. Degree in any subject of Biological/ Physical/ Chemical Sciences including Mathematics. They should have qualified in the CSIR-UGC (NET) examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Those qualified in Lecturership in CSIR-UGC (NET) are not eligible and they need not apply. Candidates those qualified in ICMR-JRF (Life Sciences) or DBT-JRF are also can apply. Selection will be based on the written test / interview to be conducted by CCMB.

Candidates with Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech.) or B.Pharm with Biotechnology as a subject of study and have qualified in GATE / GPAT may also apply. GATE/ GPAT percentile should be a minimum of 85 percentile. They need to qualify in Written Exam and Interview conducted by CCMB. CCMB also encourages candidates with non-life sciences background with Masters in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Chemistry and B.Tech in Computer Sciences or other Engineering disciplines. They can also apply if they have strong appetite for research in biology. Candidates with MBBS degree also can apply. All the selected selected candidates should also qualify for the Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, to pursue PhD in CCMB.
