Following table will provide you the number of seats in IITs for various Branches / Subjects. This data is based on the seats filled in IIT JEE 2010. There may be increase in number of seats in some IITs. There were 9509 seats in all IITs during IIT JEE 2010 admission. This year for IIT JEE 2011 candidates, the total number of seats has increased to 9618. Candidates can estimate their chances of grabbing a seat in IIT of their choice based on the 2011 Merit List Cut Off for various categories of candidates.
IITs offer more than 80 branches in B.Tech. and Dual Degree Programs. Most of the students opt for main stream branches such as Electronics and Communications, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Biotech, Aerospace, Mechanical, Mining, Computers, Mettalurgy etc. Following table will give you number of seats in these branches in IITs at Madras, Bombay, Delhi, Gauhati, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee, IT – BHU and ISM Dhanbad. Sir, I belong to OBC category, my rank in GATE 2012 is 6467 & marks 28.33, GATE score is 395, can I get any of the NITs.??
as this year many of the PSUs are recruiting through GATE…
What you need to do at this time is just apply to all the eligible institutions and courses and wait for your turn. There are several institutions and stages of admissions. Also track previous year admissions in various institutions. PSU will short list the candidates based on GATE scores.
