August 19: Here is a great opportunity for engineering graduates to showcase their hidden talents and creativity. Barry – Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR), Chennai (Tamil Nadu) is conducting DesignACE 2012 contest for Engineering students of South India (Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry). This is the fourth contest of the kind by BWIR. The contest is aimed at bringing out the design creativity of the engineering students. Here are details of eligibility, selection process, important dates and online registration procedure:
Winners of the DesignACE 2012 contest will get prizes as mentioned below: First Prize – Rs. 30000; Second Prize – Rs. 25000; Third Prize – Rs. 20000. Teams will be short listed based on their proposed designs, concepts, and processes of the design. Eight teams will be formed for the finals out of which three winning teams will be selected.
Top three teams will get cash prizes along with an opportunity for internship at BWIR. Applicants should be from any Engineering College in South India. They should have good CAD skills. Students of all branches / specialisations are eligible. Interested candidates can submit online registration through the official website http://www.bwir-designace.com. You should send the Design using Solid Works, write up on the concept or mechanism used, explanations, simulation files and a brief note on the sustainability of the concepts.

1) Model submission for short listing: 1st September 2012
2) Display of shortlisted candidates: 10th September 2012
3) Pre-final – Design Problem round at Chennai: 21st September 2012
4) Final Presentation at Chennai: 22nd September 2012
