Government of India has added over 4000 medical PG seats for the academic year 2017-18, as per the statement of Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda. This will be huge boost to the medical education.
About 4193 medical seats at the PG level have been added in various medical colleges and hospitals for the academic session 2017-18. With this, the total number of PG medical seats will be 35117.
Out of the total seats, 2046 seats are available in medical colleges. The number of seats has been increased to amend the teacher student ratio in clinical subjects in government medical colleges. For this, 1137 extra seats were created in 71 colleges.
Apart from these, 2147 DNB seats, which are equivalent to MD or MS have increased in the previous year. Now the total number of PG medical seats reached to 4,193 and another 1000 seats is likely to be added during March 2017.
