JEE Main and Advanced Exams from 2013-14 by JAB

The fiasco over proposed new common entrance examination for admission to IIT has been resolved with IITs approved a fresh formula. As per the latest formula, the Engineering admissions in IITs from 2013 will be based on ranks achieved in the Advanced Test mixed with top 20 percentile in the Board exams. The IITs will consider the top 20 percent of the candidates from CBSE, ICSE and State Boards for admission to Engineering programmes from 2013-14.

Now, there is a clarity on the entrance exam for IITs. There will be two stages in the common joint entrance exam. These are JEE Main and JEE Advanced. To get qualified for IITs, candidates should clear JEE Main with a high score to qualify for the JEE Advanced Examination. Candidates those qualified in Advanced examination and secured place in the top 20 percentile of the Board exams will be considered for admissions in IITs.

JEE Advanced Test will be conducted after the JEE Main Examination. Only top 150,000 candidates from all categories in the JEE Main will be qualified to appear for the JEE (previously known as AIEEE) Advanced test. The new admission system will be implemented from 2013-14. The JEE advanced examination will be held by Joint Admission Board (JAB) and Joint Implementation Committee.
