Oxford – Blavatnik School of Government – MPP Scholarships 2012

Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University, United Kingdom is offering Scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year to pursue Master of Public Policy in the school. There are 10 scholarships for Indian students. The main aim of the scholarship is to reward academic ability and to open education opportunities for foreign students in UK. The scholarship will be funded by Chevening-Weidenfeld, both of which are specific to the MPP and the other sources of funding for Oxford graduate applicants.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants should get admission in Master of Public Policy programme. This is a 12 month full time programme. They need to submit an ‘Application for Scholarship’ of not more than 1,000 words and should be addressed to the Scholarship Selection Committee. The submission should include, how study at the Blavatnik School will assist their career development, How their intended careers will contribute to the public good in their home countries, or at the international level. Applications should be submitted or emailed not later than 20 January 2012.

Selection procedure: Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of candidates’ academic record and commitment to public service. Short listed candidates will be interviewed and interviews will be conducted online via Skype or by telephone. Selected candidates will get Scholarship that includes tuition and colleges fees, and a stipend to cover living expenses in Oxford. This will amount to a worth of a maximum of £47,250.

RCI Diploma in Special Education Admissions 2012-13

Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi has announced notification for All India Online Aptitude Test for Admission to Diploma Courses in Special Education. RCI is a statutory body under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. The RCI is and empowered body to monitor training programmes in the field of Rehabilitation and Special Education. The organisation is conducting following programmes for the academic year 2012-13 for which admission process is under progress:

1. Diploma in Education – Special Education (Deaf and Hard of Hearing)
2. Diploma in Education – Special Education (Mental Retardation)
3. Diploma in Education – Special Education (Visual Impairment)

The RCI will conduct an All India Online Aptitude Test for short listing the candidates. Applied candidates can avail the facility of Mock / Sample Online Test of 30 minutes duration before the commencement of examination. It is observed that the demand for trained special teachers has increased in the recent times considerably after the judgment by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court for appointment of special teachers in each school of NCT of Delhi.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the regulatory body has also granted approval to B.Ed. Special Education and D.Ed. Special Education qualifications to be eligible for the appointment of elementary teachers in general schools. States like NCT of Delhi, Rajasthan, etc. have already started recruiting special teachers and other states may follow the same in near future. This will certainly increase the job opportunities for these candidates.
