    • Saran,
Your research column should contain the following topics in brief:
      1) Hypothesis
      2) Research Problem
      3) Review of Literature
      4) Method of Research
      5) Reference Books and Journals

You can follow any standard book on research method available in the market.

    • You can check the official site for latest dates. Regarding tentative research, you can mention your area of interest with relevant research proposal, hypothesis, method of research etc. Try to refer any basic book on research methods to get an idea of this.

  5. Dear sir/madam,
I completed my m.sc. degree in Aug -2008 with first rank from NDRI , karnal, and joined my ph.d. in Oct., 2011 as I could not join phd before due to some urgent family related affairs and worst financial conditions of my family. so i joined for phd during 2011, with the hope to get Inspire Fellowship from Govt. of India, as i was strongly dedicated with the aim of research in my field to do something for the country in general, and also particularly to fulfil my aims.

I have been contineously going through the website starting from 2008 till 2011 about the eligibilty criteria for this is that “candidates who have acquired their required qualifications on or after April 2007 are eligible to apply”.

But this year the notification came,”Candidates who have acquired their required qualifications necessary for admission to the PhD program during 2011 i.e. January to December 2011 are only eligible”.
Sir, I want to know its exact meaning.

Sir, I joined the Ph. D. with the hope of getting the financial assistance from Inspire fellowship only and only. But If the eligibility criteria suddenly changed like this, then I will have no other way than leaving this ph.d. leaving all my dreams left out.
So Sir, I hope that the Govt. of India will surely arrange to offer the fellowships for the first rank holders keeping the eligibility criteria like previous years so that students like us will be highly benefitted also will be highly grateful to the Dept. of DST, Govt. of India.
Lastly, please help me in the above regards by giving clear solutions to my queries.

Sir, Iam eagarly waiting for your rely

From this, we can interpret that only freshers can apply for these fellowships. Try to contact concerned officials through email / phone if possible for more clarity on this.

    • Hi Jui,

I am also like you. I have secured my MSc. in 2010 with university first rank and enrolled in PhD in january 2012 by expecting INSPIRE fellowship.

I think, here so many students are like us. So can we make a group of students like us and write a request letter to them by collecting the details of all PhD students enrolled by expecting this fellowship.
we have to take an immediate action before the list published.

I came to know that they will list the candidates in June 2012 first week, who were passed in 2011. So they won’t consider us.

I don’t know without any previous announcement (2011), they suddently change their criteria. They should have mentioned in previous notification that “we will take 2011 pass out students next time” like that.

If i will not get this fellowshipI have to stop my PhD.

If anyone is like us please send a mail to me.

We don’t have time to waste. We Should take immediate action.

  7. Kindly clarify the following point regarding applying for INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP for pursuing Doctoral programme during 2012-13: Is it necessary for the first rank holder of a University, to indicate in the application, choices of three Universities where one wants to enroll along with a prospective guide in each? Will it not be sufficient if one gives the name of a single University/Institute with the name of one prospective guide?

    Reply
    • SPB, What happens if the only university / guide you are choosing has enough research students with him? . There might be some reason to choose multiple universities / institutes. You can prioritize within the three institutes and check your chances in the favorite one. It is always good to follow the guidelines. All the best.
