NEET 2017 Results Stayed by Madras High Court

In a major disappointment to the aspirants of MBBS and BDS courses, the Madras High Court has stayed the announcement of results of NEET – 2017 (UG). The court has stayed the further process of NEET 2017 such as evaluation of answer sheets, releasing answer key and announcement of results.

This interim order of Madras High Court stops the NEET 2017 admission process till further orders. The CBSE has been preparing itself to announce the results on 8th June 2017.

Justice M V Muralidharan of Madras High Court stayed the process on a writ petition filed by T Sakthi Malarkodi of Trichy seeking to scrap NEET-2017 on the ground of discrimination. The petitioner has argued that there was no uniformity in question papers set in different languages. The CBSE had set the NEET 2017 question papers in 10 languages.

The petitioners had argued that in Tamil Nadu, NEET question paper in Tamil was easy compared to the one in English. They requested the court to order the CBSE to conduct a fresh examination in a uniform manner and cancelling the May 7 NEET test. The interim order of Madras High Court will have an impact on the commencement of counselling for MBBS and BDS courses in various states.
