NDTV Broadcast Training Programme Admissions for April, August 2011 Batches

NDTV, India’s most popular news television channel announced notification for its post graduate career oriented programme, NDTV Broadcast Training Programme 2011. The duration of the course is 10 months. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in making a career in television / electronic media journalism. NDTV is highly reputed television channel in India with 22 years of television experience. Following are details of the eligibility, selection and application procedure:

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants should have Graduation / Bachelors Degree in any discipline. Age must be below 28 years as on 4th July 2011. Selection will be based on audio – visual test and personal interview. First batch will start in April 2011 and second batch will commence in August 2011. Candidates for both batches will be selected through this notification only. Academic and extra-curricular achievements of the candidate will be given weightage in the selection process. Each batch will has 40 seats. Fee for the total programme is Rs 1.90 lakhs and applicable taxes.

First 4 months of the programme will concentrate on formal classroom training in writing, camera work, voice training, editing, and and the next 6 months will be for apprenticeship and internship to train the candidates in real time news environment in the departments of NDTV.

The programme is based on experiential learning and intensive in nature. Candidates with sharp professional skills, leadership qualities, and strategies to excel in the media will be short listed through rigorous selection process. The programme has also been structures as an apprenticeship. Successful candidates shall find internships and job opportunities with NDTV group channels including NDTV 24/7, NDTV India, NDTV Profit, NDTV Hindu, Good Times, and the web-based Convergence.

  1. i have seen the intern notification and would like to know how is the shortlisting done before audio and video?? i would also like to know if we ought to write about a single program of specified new channels or overall opinion about the programs of the news channels?

    • No Priya, The programme is offered in New Delhi only. You can pursue the similar course in Chennai from Asian College of Journalism. This is also more prestigious and supported by The Hindu Group.

    I am a 29 year old Masters in Political Science(57%) ,an ameteur chess player and my hobby is creative writing. I want to join NDTV as a journalist in October 2011. May I please know the prcedure. Waiting for your reply.

    • Your academic background in Political Science will be an advantage for a career in journalism. There will be a batch starting in August 2011 but the selection process for that also will be completed along with April batch. You may need to wait for the next notification!

  4. I wish to join NDTV broadcast training programme. What are the job prospects once the course is completed? Are all the students absorbed by NDTV?

    • Hi Ankita,
      Most of the candidates are likely to get placements in NDTV group as they have television channels, websites etc. Even if you are not placed in the group, the training and brand name shall help you in getting a better job.

  5. indiacan programme offering a pg course in information and broadcast media. plese let me if it is better to joinning the course and does it provide any job placement.

    • Hi Aryan, Usually media supported training programs will have better placements compared to independent journalism / mass communication colleges. Institutes like IIMC are exception to this. You need to thoroughly inquire before joining in the course and also be aware of previous placements of the institute.

      Most of channels are training candidates for their in-house requirements. Check with ETV Bangla if any vacancies or training courses are offered!
