Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala has announced Ph.D. Admissions notification for January 2012 session in the disciplines of Biology, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Chemical Sciences. IISER – TVM is a reputed institute established by the Govt. of India to carry out research in basic sciences. The institute has reputed faculty, good infrastructure, academic and research facilities and environment along with scholarships for meritorious candidates. Following are eligibility and application details of the Ph.D. admission in IISER – TVM for the session to be started from January 2011:
1) Biological Sciences: Applicants must have Masters degree in Biological/ Physical/ Mathematical/ Allied Medical Sciences / Chemical OR a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Medicine with at least 60 percent marks. Candidates should have qualified in any one of the tests such as CSIR- UGC- JRF / DBT- JRF / GATE / ICMR JRF. Those wants to pursue Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution need not qualify in any of these tests.
2) Chemical Sciences: Candidates should have Masters degree in Chemistry with minimum 60 percent marks and should have qualified in CSIR-UGC JRF / GATE with validity as on 1st January 2012. Candidates with research experience and quality publications will be preferred.
3) Physical Sciences: Applicants should have Masters in Physical Sciences or Engineering or Technology in the subject areas of Physics faculty at IISER TVM. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in Masters Degree. They should have also qualified in national level tests like GATE / CSIR-UGC JRF.
4) Mathematical Sciences: Applicants need Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology / Mathematics/ Statistics / in any relevant ares of Science with minimum 60 percent marks along with qualification in CSIR -UGC – JRF / NBHM / GATE.
