IIM-CAT 2011 Results, Short-listing and Selection Procedure

CAT 2011 results will be announced during January 2011 on the CAT official website Those qualified in CAT 2011 entrance examination will also get the details of their chances of getting a management programme seat in IIMs. On the day of the results of CAT 2011, the IIMs will simultaneously announce the list the names of the candidates short-listed for interviews by for PGP (Post Graduate Programme in Management). IIMs will send interview letters to the short listed candidates with all the related details. IIMs follow different criteria for short-listing the candidates apart from CAT scores. IIMs Cut Offs are always high as there are only a limited number of seats available for the candidates. Candidates can visit respective IIM website for complete details of eligibility and short listing procedures. Following is the brief procedure usually IIMs follow while short listing the candidates for their most sought after PGP programmes:

1) Eligibility Verification: If a candidate is found short-listed for interviews by any IIM, he / she has to comply with all the eligibility verification procedures of the institutes.

2) Mark sheets and Degree Certificate: Short listed CAT candidates must show and furnish all the original mark sheets and should submit attested copies in proof of their eligibility for admission at the time of interview. All the selected candidates for the programme have to submit original degree certificate and mark sheets of all semesters / years to respective IIM at the time of joining the course. They should also submit a set of attested copies of certificates.

3) Reservation Category Requirements: All the SC, ST, NC-OBC, and DA candidates, if selected for the programme, must submit original caste / class / disability certificate from the concerned authority. They should also submit a copy of the certificates at the time of interview.

4) Candidates who are in the Final Year of Graduation: If any final year candidate is short-listed for interview by IIM for admission into PGP, he / she must provide a original certificate from the concerned Principal / Registrar / Director of the university / institution / college certifying that the candidate has obtained at least 50 percent marks or equivalent (45 percent for SC, ST, and DA category candidates). Candidates have to submit an attested copy of the original certificate to respective IIM at the time of interview. They will be allowed into PGP of IIMs provisionally only. They need to complete the formalities as prescribed by the IIMs to get a confirmed admission.
