APSET 2012 Notification, Subjects, Exam Pattern and Qualifying Marks

Osmania University is all set to conduct AP State Level Eligibility Test (APSET 2012). The UGC has granted permission to OU to conduct the examination on behalf of the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The APSET 2012 notification will be announced by Osmania University very soon. VC of Osmania University, Prof. Satyanarayana will serve as Chairman of APSET 2012. The last exam of APSET was conducted about 14 years back. It was then called as SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) and used to be conducted by AP College Service Commission. The UGC has accepted the proposal to conduct APSET for the following 24 subjects:

Subjects eligible for APSET 2012: Telugu, English, Hindi, Urdu, History, Linguistics, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Sociology, Philosophy, Commerce, Anthropology, Psychology, Education, Physical Education, Management, Life Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Chemical Science, Earth Science, Computer Science and Applications. The UGC has not accepted Mass Communication and Journalism, Archeology, Sanskrit, Library Science, Social Work and Geography. Minimum eligibility for APSET is pass in PG degree in the concerned or relevant subject.

Examination Structure: APSET will be held in English and Telugu Medium for some subject and only in English for some other subjects. All the papers will be in objective multiple choice question type. There will be three papers in the APSET Examination, Following are these:

1) Paper 1: Question will be from General Studies, Research Aptitude and English. The paper will be for 100 marks.
2) Paper 2: Objective type questions from the subject selected by the candidate. This paper also will be given for 100 marks.
3) Paper 3: Objective type questions from the subject chosen by the candidate. Questions will be in the standard of PG level. This paper will carry 150 marks.

To qualify in APSET 2012, General candidates should secure 40 percent marks in Paper 1 and 50 percent in Paper 2 and Paper 3. OBC, SC, ST and PH candidates should get 35 percent in Paper 1 and Paper 2. The qualifying marks for Paper 3 are 45 percent for OBC and 40 percent for SC, ST and PH candidates. Candidates will be allowed to apply online through Osmania University website at www.osmania.ac.in or through CGG website.

    I am Anand from Vijayawada. I got qualifying marks in Apset 2012 like in Paper I – 78% Paper II – 54% Paper III- 69%. My overall total is 236 marks.
    What are my chances?
