The Government of India is proposed to establish five Minority Universities soon. The Congress Government at center is planning to start these universities by 2014.
The Minority Universities will be established at Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal and Maharashtra. These universities will be located at Rai Bareili in Uttar Pradesh and Sri Rangapatnam in Karnataka.
50 percent seats in these minority universities will be reserved for minority students. The proposal is aimed at extending higher education to the minority communities.
